"I just want to let you know that we were on the fence about rebuilding our house, and when we heard that you were opening a restaurant, we decided to rebuild." Nancy Silverton told the Palisadian-Post that "more than a handful of people" have said some version of that to her since word got out that she was coming to Palisades Village. Her restaurant, Spacca Tutto, opened on Thursday, October 15.
The people who built Spacca Tutto said they wanted a restaurant for every week rather than for occasions, and so did the operators who opened before it this fall. Each new evening venue at the Village is meant for a regular weeknight. The Bay Theater is due back before year-end as a dine-in cinema, and it completes that plan by putting dinner and the movie at the same seat.
A Steakhouse Chosen for Familiar Food
Spacca Tutto is a modern Italian steakhouse. The format was a deliberate choice. According to the Palisadian-Post, Rick Caruso wanted a neighborhood restaurant that customers could eat at multiple times a week rather than a special-occasion room, and that goal led to the steakhouse idea. Silverton explained the appeal in the same interview: "what a steakhouse restaurant is is a large menu with a lot of choices and familiar food that is appealing to a wide crowd."
The published menu shows that range. The artichoke dip is $22, the Focaccia di Recco from sister restaurant chi SPACCA on Melrose is $34, and a 50-ounce Creekstone porterhouse is $295. The menu also lists Nancy's burger, creamed spinach and loaded baked potatoes. At lunch there is a dry-aged hanger steak panini, and the bar program is built around martinis, negronis, and Italian and California wines. The same table can host a quick burger on a Tuesday or a porterhouse dinner for an anniversary.
The room seats 108 between the dining room and a covered patio. The design is by AvroKO, with travertine, burgundy banquettes and a central bar. The Daily News reported that the patio overlooks the Village's communal green. Paul Pruitt, co-founder of New School Hospitality and a Brentwood resident, told the paper he raised his daughter on that lawn. His aim for the restaurant was plain: "I want this to be the living room for the neighborhood. Come as you are, forget the reservation, the formality, just come in, have some great food."
Spacca Tutto is at 15255 Palisades Village Lane. It serves lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and dinner from 5 to 9 p.m. daily. The phone number is 310-459-3210.
The Same Goal, Three Doors Down
Spacca Tutto joined a lineup with the same goal. The Daily News called it the final major sit-down restaurant in the Village's current lineup. Each of the other rooms was described in nearly the same terms when it opened or reopened.
Alphabet Bar & Grill opened in the former Hank's space in August. It comes from chef Timothy Hollingsworth and the h.wood Group, and the Los Angeles Times reported it was designed as "the Village's neighborhood restaurant." The menu includes rotisserie chickens with a range of sauces, burgers, and a rotisserie-chicken noodle soup aimed at children. Angelini Ristorante & Bar came back in its old location with its patio and its menu. Gino Angelini told the Times, "It should feel like coming home, no?"
| Venue | Who is behind it | Evening hours | What sets it apart |
|---|---|---|---|
| Spacca Tutto | Nancy Silverton, Mozza Restaurant Group, Caruso Restaurant Group, New School Hospitality | Dinner 5 to 9 p.m. daily | Wide-ranging Italian steakhouse menu, patio on the green |
| Alphabet Bar & Grill | Timothy Hollingsworth and the h.wood Group | 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily | Americana menu with a children's option, 1033 N. Swarthmore Ave. |
| Angelini Ristorante & Bar | Gino Angelini; chef Lucio Bedon | Daily lunch and dinner | Familiar menu, including lasagna verde Nonna Elvira |
| Blue Ribbon Sushi | Bruce Bromberg and team | Daily lunch and dinner | New omakase counter, expanded patio over the lawn |
| Porta Via | Peter Garland | Until 9 p.m. Sunday through Friday, 10 p.m. Saturday | Full bar, patio, lobster rolls and burgers |
| McConnell's Fine Ice Creams | Santa Barbara-founded creamery | Until 10 p.m. daily | The after-dinner stop |
Six different operators run these rooms, and all of them described the same aim. By Caruso's account, it is working. He told the Daily News that "all the restaurants are exceeding their projections and actually exceeding their volumes they did before the fire." That is the developer's own figure, not audited sales data. It still says something. The Village drew this kind of business before January 2025 with a movie theater on Swarthmore, and it is matching that business now without one.
The Evening Still Ends at Ten
The evening still has an early edge. The Village's general restaurant hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, and the center tells visitors to check each tenant for exact times. Spacca Tutto's last dinner hour ends at 9. Porta Via closes at 9 every night except Saturday. Alphabet and McConnell's both run until 10.
A Village evening today is a dinner with no second stop beyond a scoop of ice cream. The schedule suits a weeknight. It leaves little room for a long Saturday night out.
What the Bay Changes
The Bay Theater fills that gap. Paramount Pictures and Caruso have announced a partnership to reopen the theater, which has been closed since the fire. The Palisadian-Post reported that the two companies hope to reopen it before the end of the year and expect to announce an opening date in the coming weeks. On the Village's own site, the Bay is still listed as coming soon, with a full bar, a chef-inspired menu, the latest releases and family programming.
This will be the Bay's third operator since Cinépolis opened it in 2018. Netflix ran it from 2021. Paramount has hired The Lot, a luxury dine-in cinema company with theaters in La Jolla, Point Loma, Newport Beach and San Ramon, to run in-theater dining and cocktails. The program will include first-run releases, classic films and curated events, with luxury seating and state-of-the-art sound and projection. The Bay's menu has not been released. The Lot's Fashion Island theater in Newport Beach serves burgers, pasta, grilled salmon and sliders, plus breakfast items such as buttermilk pancakes, alongside popcorn and candy.
With dinner served in the theater, a film starting after Spacca Tutto's last seating becomes its own complete evening. A family can make a Sunday matinee their lunch. Paramount has also said it plans "experiential activations" and "immersive theatrical moments." If those events follow the classic-film and curated programming already announced, the Bay will be the one Village venue with a reason to stay open past ten.
The Calendar Around the Tables, Through December
Until the Bay announces its date, the Village events calendar gives the evening its weekly structure. The listings that matter for dinner:
- Wednesdays, 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. The Pacific Palisades Farmers Market sets up along Swarthmore Avenue every week through December 30. It closes about thirty minutes after Spacca Tutto starts dinner service.
- Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings. Swarthmore Sounds brings live musicians to Swarthmore Avenue every weekend through December 31.
- Sunday mornings, November 22 and December 27, 9 to 11 a.m. Cars & Coffee is the Village's morning gathering for car enthusiasts, and it ends just as Alphabet opens at 11.
- Mondays, 10 a.m. to noon. The weekly Mahjong Social with Pali Mahj 90272 is a morning event, but it is one more standing reason to come to the Village.
None of these are galas. Three repeat every week and Cars & Coffee returns on two Sundays, which matches what Caruso and Silverton asked of the restaurants. The Bay will be the one regular evening reason to stay in the Village after dinner. Erewhon is scheduled for early 2027 and Carla Cafe for spring 2027, so those are next year's additions.
Silverton's account of neighbors who decided to rebuild after hearing about her restaurant ties a Tuesday dinner reservation to a Palisades homeowner's own plans.
